Judith Scott (May 1, 1943 – March 15, 2005) was an American artist who worked with fibre, yarn and sourced objects to create highly expressive sculptures. Isolated as a result of being institutionalized for most of her life due to being born with Down Syndrome and deafness, Scott’s life was nothing but extraordinary. She began creating art at age forty-three after her sister gained legal guardianship and introduced her to the Creative Growth project in 1987.
