She often draws influence from her Transylvanian Romanian heritage, which experienced the political purges of 1950, Romania’s farming culture and identity through the relationship of object and body. As well as working with textiles, she also explores the medium of sculpture, installation and photography.
Currently living and working in Cluj, Romania, Lupas’ career spans four decades and is one of Romania’s most influential post-war artists, having exhibited internationally, including at the Tate Modern in London, and established international representation from leading galleries.
